About Lanister

Hi, I’m Daniel – the person behind Lanister.

I’m originally from Germany and have always had an appreciation for good design, quality craftsmanship, and things that are made to last. My background in graphic design eventually led me from creating things on a screen to creating things people can actually hold, use, give, and keep.

That’s what I enjoy most about this work.

I love taking an idea – a company logo, a favorite photo, an inside joke, a milestone, or even just a name and a date – and turning it into something memorable. Not something that gets looked at once and forgotten, but something that earns a place on a desk, in a kitchen, behind a bar, on a wall, or in someone’s everyday routine.

Lanister LLC has actually been around since 2014. Over the years, I’ve used the business for several different ventures in e-commerce, design, and online retail. Lanister Design & Production Co. is the next chapter: combining that experience with hands-on production, laser engraving, personalized products, apparel, branded merchandise, and custom work for individuals and businesses here in the Charlotte area.

And the name?

Yes, there’s a Game of Thrones connection.

When I originally chose the name Lanister, it was inspired by House Lannister. I dropped an “n,” but the reference stuck. Their famous saying was, “A Lannister always pays his debts.”

I’m not sure I’d call that my personal motto, but after more than a decade in business, I can appreciate the idea behind keeping your word and doing what you say you’re going to do.

Today, that means making products I’m proud to put my name on, communicating honestly about what I can create and when I can deliver it, and treating every order – whether it’s one personalized gift or a larger order for a local business – like it matters.

Made to mean something. Made to be used.

There are plenty of things you can personalize just for the sake of personalizing them. I’m more interested in creating pieces that have a reason to stick around.

A whiskey glass celebrating a retirement.
A tumbler someone carries to work every day.
A set of awards recognizing years of hard work.
A gift featuring a pet someone loves.
Branded merchandise that employees actually want to use.

Those are the kinds of products I want Lanister Works to be known for.

Most of the work is produced by me here in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, which also means you’re not dealing with layers of account managers and production departments. When you contact Lanister, you’re talking to the person who will actually be working on your project.

If you have an idea you’d like to turn into something real, I’d love to hear about it.
